In April PACAR hosted a presentation on Scorpions by members of the University of Panama. Along with many partners they are researching venomous animals in Panama. The presentation including information on identification and habits of Scorpions.
There was useful advice for treating bites and stings. The usual home remedies don't help following an encounter with a venomous animal. The best method is to seek medical treatment as soon as possible. The hospital in 24 de Diciembre was mentioned as having antivenom.
If you missed the talk you can learn more about these fascinating creatures and their occurance in Panama by viewing the video I have produced from that day. It is presented in Spanish with English subtitles paraphrasing the main concepts.
